BP/EAGE 2004 Salt Model
As proof of concept we synthesized
a 2D walkaway survey over the BP 2004 salt
model ( Billette and Bradsberg Dhal, (2005))
The synthetic VSP dataset
consists of 1251 shots beginning at CDP 260 and
ending at 10260 and 396 receivers in the well
bore. Shot were space by 50m at a
depth of 12.5m. The 396 well bore receivers
were spaced 12.5 meters along the well bore and
vary laterally along the deviated section between cdp 782 and and 7591.
Total recording time was 20 seconds with a nominal
frequency of 20 HZ and a maximum of 56 HZ.
The recording aperture was centered on cdp
4600 and covered 7040 cdps. Although this
geometry may not be fully compatible with
traditional marine acquisition the design was
based on our experience with several VSP datasets we
have had an opportunity to review.
Using the standard model from BP (Vp and Rho), we created a deviated well (seen in red)
from the waterbottom down to the salt flank, and shot data from points all along the
surface.
